| Character : Hoban 'Wash' Washburne' Series Summary : A spaceship crew operating on the edges of the law have a series of adventures whilst harbouring two fugitives. Wash is half of the only married couple ever to be featured in a main role of Whedon's creating. His wife Zoe (Gina Torres), second in command on Serenity, is an ex-soldier, intelligent and strong. In 'War Stories', one of the best episodes of the short lived series, Alan's character takes his wife's place on a mission, jealous of the relationship she has with Mal Reynolds (Nathan Fillion), the ship's captain and Zoe's former Sergent. The scenes of Wash and Mal being tortured by an old enemy, and arguing over Zoe were especially watchable, and Alan provides a commentary for this episode, and the episode 'The Message' on the DVD release of Firefly. The DVD also contains Alan's original audition for the role of Wash, and he features in some hilarious outtakes on the gag reel. Firefly was made into a feature length film, Serenity, where Alan reprised the role of Wash. Also starring : Nathan Fillion, Summer Glau Status : Available on DVD See also, SERENITY |
